NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Left-hander Jose De Paula has been recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the New York Yankees, who optioned right-hander Jose Ramirez to the Triple-A club.
Ramirez threw 38 pitches over two innings in Tuesday’s 12-2 loss at Miami.
De Paula was 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA in three starts at Scranton, the last on June 12.
“He’s a guy that give us distance,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday. “We needed someone that can give us some real distance.”
De Paula did not pitch in the Yankees’ 2-1 win over the Marlins on Wednesday night.
