Yankees Rally to Defeat the Orioles

BALTIMORE — It was a beautiful day for a walk in the park — 70 degrees and sunny in downtown Baltimore — and the Yankees took full advantage of it at Camden Yards on Sunday. As a result, they can walk into their home opener on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays with their heads held a little higher.

The operative word is “walk,” because that was the key element of the Yankees’ offense in their come-from-behind 7-3 win over the Orioles, averting a three-game sweep and a 1-5 start to the season.

The Yankees were given eleven free tickets to first base by three Orioles pitchers, but it was not until the ninth inning, and the 10th walk, that the Yankees were finally able to convert one of those free passes into a run.
