Before the Yankees’ 4-0 win over the Blue Jays on Friday night at the Stadium, Aaron Boone danced around a question asking if there was a scenario in which top pitching prospect Deivi Garcia could reach the big leagues this year.
Nevertheless, he certainly painted a positive picture of Garcia, who started the season in Single-A and was recently promoted to Triple-A after being a starting pitcher in the Futures Game last Sunday.
“One of those guys, been on the radar last couple of years. Last year having a really good year and then obviously this year taking it to another level and getting the attention not only of us, but all of the baseball world starting the Futures Game,’’ Boone said of the 20-year-old right-hander, who is considered by other organizations as the Yankees’ top overall prospect.
