Yankees promote CF Williams from Triple-A

A fourth-round selection of the Yanks in the 2010 Draft, Williams is the son of former NFL wide receiver Derwin Williams. After signing for $1.45 million, he established himself as one of the best prospects in baseball with a breakout season in '12 before slipping, but he has recently rebuilt that stock.

In addition, the Yankees recalled right-hander Chris Martin from Triple-A. Martin, 29, was 0-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 15 appearances for the Yanks earlier this season after making his first career Opening Day roster.

New York officially placed left-hander Andrew Miller on the 15-day disabled list with a left flexor forearm muscle strain, retroactive to Wednesday, and transferred right-hander Ivan Nova's rehab assignment to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
