Yankees place Didi Gregorius on disabled list, recall Luke Voit from Triple-A

The bad news keeps coming for the Yankees. Earlier today, the team announced that they placed Didi Gregorius on the 10-day disabled, retroactive to August 20th, with a left heel contusion. As a corresponding move, the club recalled Luke Voit from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Yankees shortstop suffered the injury on Sunday during a game against the Blue Jays. He collided with Kendrys Morales while trying to run out a groundball. That resulted in an awkward stumble and fall. The team removed him from the game and shortly thereafter manager Aaron Boone indicated that it would likely require a DL stint.
