The Yankees have been missing their ironman in the outfield for several games. They officially sidelined him today today, though. The team announced that they will place Brett Gardner on the 10-day IL with left knee inflammation. The move is retroactive to July 22, meaning that the earliest Gardner is eligible to come off of the IL is on July 31.
Gardner last played on July 20 against Colorado, and has been trying to get back into the lineup during the Yankees road trip but was unable to do so.
