TAMPA — Danny Farquhar threw a bullpen session Friday, his first since suffering a life-threatening brain hemorrhage caused by a ruptured aneurysm during a game with the White Sox on April 20 of last year.
The session was another step in the right-hander’s comeback attempt in Yankees spring training.
“Honestly, it’s kind of like riding a bike,” Farquhar said of what it felt like to be back on the mound. “To think 10 months ago I would be here, you don’t know. I am extraordinarily thankful.”
Farquhar, who turns 32 Sunday, said it was an easy decision to return to pitching despite the aneurysm and ensuing surgeries that left his skull more vulnerable to injury.
