ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — After a rocky start Adam Warren gave the Yankees a chance to win Monday night.
The same can’t be said about the Yankees’ bats.
For the second straight evening the Yankees jumped a Rays starter for two runs in the opening inning and then watched the bats turn into wet newspapers.
By the time the Rays took a one-run lead in the second the Yankees bats were in a coma and the main reason for a 3-2 loss in front of an announced gathering of 11,924 at Tropicana Field.
Staked to a 2-0 lead in the first, Warren gave up a run in the home half of the inning and two in the second.
