TORONTO— The day after the Yankees picked a high school catcher from suburban Atlanta 23rd overall in this year’s draft, long-haired country boy Anthony Seigler spent Tuesday celebrating with friends and family.
“It was like a dream that never really happened, but it did,” Seigler said. “So it’s pretty unbelievable.”
Seigler is an interesting guy, as he was an ambidextrous pitcher at Carterville High School, and a good one, too, as he had a 9-3 record and 2.12 ERA as a junior.
How’d that come about?
Seigler answered that and more in a conference call with Yankees beat writers on Tuesday night.
