George Steinbrenner, for everything you can say about him was a caring guy. He cared about people especially those in the NYPD. The Steinbrenner’s created the Silver Shield Foundation to help the children of slain NYPD officers go to college. With the recent murder of NYPD officers Brian Moore, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, the Yankees and WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton are going to help.
On June 3rd, the Yankees and Boomer and Carton will host a celebrity softball game. Proceeds are going to the families of those officers along with the Silver Shield Foundation and the PBA Widow’s and Children’s Fund.
