TAMPA -- Yankees infielder Neil Walker held out hope for a Mets reunion this winter.
He felt that possibility just about collapsed when the team agreed to a deal with third baseman Todd Frazier worth $17 million over two years on Feb. 5.
"We just kept in touch about interest levels, so on and so forth," Walker said, referring to the Mets, in the George M. Steinbrenner Field clubhouse Tuesday morning. "They were just checking in to see if I was willing to come back and things like that.
