The decisive hit during the Yankees’ 7-3 victory over Houston on Tuesday night came with a cost. DJ LeMahieu’s go-ahead infield single turned into an error that allowed Rougned Odor to score from first base, putting New York up by three runs. However, he had an ugly collision with catcher Martín Maldonado that hurt his left knee badly enough that he had to be helped off the field.
Although Odor was later able to walk a little bit and put weight on his leg, MRI scans and other medical examination revealed that Odor had a left knee sprain.
