Mike Tauchman has created few believers during his first 26 games in pinstripes, but the few in his corner matter the most.
Even with Clint Frazier set to rejoin the Yankees on Monday, Tauchman’s roster spot is safe, according to Aaron Boone, giving the long-struggling outfielder the opportunity to build off his key two-run homer in Sunday’s rain-shortened 4-1 win over the Twins.
“It’s great. To have the respect and trust, a little bit, of the staff, and the guys in the room, means a ton,” Tauchman said after being informed he wouldn’t be optioned.
