Yankees may be without Chase Headley for another week

Chase Headley continues to make progress with an upper calf injury in his right leg, but missed his third straight game, Friday at Fenway Park, and there is a chance the switch-hitting third baseman won’t play again until following the All-Star break.

“That thought has crossed my mind,’’ manager Joe Girardi said about not playing Headley until Friday night, against the Mariners at Yankee Stadium. “We will continue to evaluate and see where we are at.’’

Girardi started Cole Figueroa at third for the second straight game, and he went 0-for-4 in the 5-1 win over the Red Sox.
