Yankees may be finally showing fatigue from their injury battle

CLEVELAND — Subway Series!

Subway Series?

“I’m just excited to go home and sleep in my own bed,” Aaron Hicks said Sunday afternoon, not long after he launched a run-scoring double to finally put the pesky Indians to rest, 7-6 in 10 innings at Progressive Field.

Hicks spoke as well for his teammates, who generally displayed as much interest in discussing the 2019 Subway Series, which kicks off Monday at Yankee Stadium (weather permitting), as if they had been surveyed about the Democratic candidates for president. The Mets and the city’s bipartisan fans shouldn’t take this personally, however; the Yankees didn’t appear as much tired of discussing this topic as just plain tired after an exhausting finale to a rough road trip.
