The Yankees took another step toward cementing their 2021 roster on Wednesday afternoon. After falling to the Blue Jays, 5-0, the team announced that four more players would no longer be part of the Opening Day plans. Unlike last week’s moves, which were focused on 40-man roster players like Mike Ford, this decision only affected four non-roster invitees.
Relievers Kyle Barraclough and Asher Wojciechowski were demoted to the minor league camp, as well as outfielders Ryan LaMarre and Sócrates Brito. The latter position players were always going to wind up in the minors unless something went seriously wrong in spring training, but Barraclough and Wojciechowski both had an outside shot at a bullpen spot.
