Yankees lose Jordan Montgomery to Tommy John surgery

Jordan Montgomery will undergo Tommy John surgery, ending his season, the Yankees announced Tuesday.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Christopher Ahmad, the Yankees’ team physician, at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Thursday.

Montgomery, who has not pitched since May 1, was on the disabled list with a flexor strain in his left, throwing elbow. In six starts this season, Montgomery held a 3.62 ERA and a 2-0 record. The 25-year-old’s spot in the rotation has been filled by Domingo German since the injury.
