If you’re a New York Yankees fan you probably know a thing about Derek Jeter. The former star shortstop, who is currently a minority owner with the Miami Marlins, grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan with interracial parents. Jeter himself is biracial, and he detailed the injustices and racism he experienced on ESPN’s Harold Reynolds “Baseball Tonight” segment.
“When I grew up, at the time interracial marriage was not as common as it may be nowadays,” Jeter said. “Growing up, every time you went somewhere with just one of your parents, people would look at you and they’d wonder who’s this person you’re with.
