Remember that seven-game lead the Yankees had on July 28?
Well, less than two weeks later, it’s been trimmed to 2½ games after Toronto’s David Price shut them out for seven innings in a 6-0 loss at Yankee Stadium.
It’s the smallest lead the Yankees have held in the AL East since July 8 — due in part to Toronto having won 10 of 11 since Troy Tulowitzki joined the team.
The Yankees will try to avoid a sweep with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound Sunday.
Ivan Nova took the loss.
The right-hander went toe-to-toe with David Price until the sixth, when the Blue Jays finally struck with a Justin Smoak grand slam.
