TAMPA — Left-hander Jordan Montgomery spent the final morning of his offseason working out at the Yankees’ minor-league complex, which is across Dale Mabry Highway from Steinbrenner Field and right next to Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The day before spring training reporting day for Yankees' pitchers and catchers, Montgomery was among the last players to leave Monday.
His rookie season was pretty good after way you slice it up, especially when you consider his 9-7 record and 3.88 ERA over 33 starts in 2017 was achieved after he showed up for spring training as a real longshot to even contend for one of two open rotation spots let alone win one and keep it all season.
