Joe Girardi chose not to reveal his wild-card roster before Tuesday’s 10 a.m. deadline, nor would he say who would his starting nine would be against Astros lefty ace Dallas Keuchel.
But one thing seems to be a near-certainty: Chris Young will be in the lineup.
Young is 6-for-20 (.300) with two doubles against Keuchel, matching the rest of the Yankees’ extra-base hit total in 77 combined at-bats. Young, who will likely start in left field in place of Brett Gardner, hit .327/.397/.595 against lefties this season.
Aside from trying to solve Keuchel —who threw 16 scoreless innings against the Yankees in two starts this season — Young will be doing his part to oust his hometown Astros from the postseason.
