PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — The Yankees’ everyday lineup has been set for months, but there are still a pair of races to watch over the next three weeks.
Both the backup catcher and utility infield spot are up for grabs, and while a pair of highly touted prospects — Gary Sanchez and Rob Refsnyder — are the favorites to land on the Opening Day roster, several players are doing their best to give Joe Girardi something to think about.
“There’s a lot of guys in that competition that we have to look at over the next few weeks,” Girardi said.
