Alex Rodriguez moved past Barry Bonds for second place on baseball's all-time RBI list. Well, with an asterisk.
No, it has nothing to do with A-Rod's PED history, although some will never fully recognize his statistical accomplishments because of his checkered past. This has to do with MLB's record-keeping, which didn't begin counting the RBI until 1920, when it became an official stat.
A-Rod now has 1,997 RBI, one more than Bonds. Hank Aaron is the all-time leader with 2,297, but while MLB lists Ruth with 1,992, Baseball-Reference.com lists the Babe with 2,214 (he picked up his first RBI in 1915) and Cap Anson (who played in the late-1800s) with 2,075.
