ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Another day, another injury to a Yankees starter with the playoffs right around the corner.
The latest:
All-Star rookie second baseman Gleyber Torres was scratched from the Yankees’ starting lineup on Tuesday night.
The day before, center fielder Aaron Hicks was pulled early into the game due to a nagging injury, then replacement Brett Gardner ended up getting a scare when he crashed head first into the left-center field wall at Tropicana Field while making a great catch.
And shortstop Didi Gregorius got hurt last Saturday at Yankee Stadium sliding headfirst into home plate while scoring the winning run in an 11-inning walk-off victory over Baltimore that clinched a playoff spot for the Yankees.
