NEW YORK -- The skies above Yankee Stadium opened up in the top of the fifth inning, putting the series finale between the Yankees and Boston Red Sox on pause.
The Red Sox led the Yankees, 4-0, in the top of the fifth on Thursday before the tarp rolled its way onto the field.
The game is not official yet since the teams have not completed at least five innings.
Just minutes before the delay, Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez launched his second home run in as many days. His solo shot into the Boston bullpen in left-center field came off Yankees starter CC Sabathia, who gave up four earned runs on nine hits over four-plus innings.
