Rob Refsnyder opened enough eyes in his two games against the Red Sox at Fenway Park last weekend to stick around with the Yankees after the All-Star break, but hitting coach Jeff Pentland said he needs a bit more of a body of work to judge the 24-year-old.
“It’s a little too early,” Pentland said of his take on the second baseman. “It’ll be about a week before I can really tell what we’re working with.”
Nevertheless, Pentland said he liked what he saw from Refsnyder in Tampa during spring training.
“After I got the job here, he was one of the names I heard,” said Pentland, who replaced Kevin Long during the offseason.
