The Yankees spent most of Tuesday night playing sloppy baseball, and looked as if they were going to kick away a chance to clinch a series victory. Thanks to a rain delay, it took nearly four hours for New York and Seattle to reach the the ninth inning with the Mariners in possession of a 4-2 lead. From there, the Yankees snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, on the backs of several of their unheralded replacement players. It was a shocking win, emblematic of the season’s first six weeks.
Winner of the Game
For the first seven-plus innings, this choice looked like it would be a tough one, simply because there just weren’t many appealing options.
