Here we go again. For what feels like the 20th time, Yankees first baseman Greg Bird was possibly headed to the injured list. Bird was even scratched from Friday’s lineup with tightness and swelling in his left elbow after being hit by a pitch. The Yanks sent Bird for x-rays as a precaution. With Bird, you simply never know the full extent of a potential injury.
Bird is battling for the first base position with Luke Voit. During this year’s Spring Training Bird slashed .317/481/.610 with three home runs, nine RBIs, and walked 12 times while scoring eight runs.
