BOSTON— Before the Yankees laid an egg in Game 1 of their ALDS series with the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at Fenway Park – they fell behind 5-0 early and lost 5-4 – GM Brian Cashman had some interesting things to say in a short on-field interview.
Interestingly, Cashman shared how the Yankees’ analytics department deserves the credit for his summer trade for first baseman sensation Luke Voit.
Also interestingly, Cashman called defensively challenged catcher Gary Sanchez the best game-calling receiver on the club, which was surprisingly to hear because that’s supposedly one of backup Austin Romine’s biggest strengths.
