In a strange turn of events, Gleyber Torres won’t be heading to the injured list, manager Aaron Boone told reporters before Wednesday’s game against the Orioles.
Torres exited Tuesday’s 9-4 win in Baltimore with core pain, the second time in three games the All-Star second baseman was forced out of a game due to the mysterious injury.
But all tests came back clean, Boone said, and Torres will instead be listed as day-to-day. Thairo Estrada was brought up for precautionary reasons on Wednesday.
Twenty-five Yankees — including Torres for a 10-day stint in early July due to a strained right hip — have hit the injured list this season.
