It would have been hard to imagine things could get worse for the Yankees after they dropped six straight during their West Coast trip from hell.
Then they got sucker punched.
The Yankees' physician, Dr. Christopher Ahmad, diagnosed top prospect Gleyber Torres -- on the verge of breaking into the majors -- with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on Monday, the club said in a press release.
Torres won't be ready to play until next spring training as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, the team said.
