The New York Yankees are getting healthier at the right time, and in addition to that, have recently discovered or added useful players when they needed them the most. The trade additions have been outstanding, Wandy Peralta has blossomed into a reliable reliever, Andrew Velasquez has excelled at shortstop, Nestor Cortes Jr. is doing a terrific job holding down a rotation spot, and they are welcoming back some injured players.
Perhaps the single most influential player currently on the shelf, Luis Severino, also got some good injury news on the week. After a couple of days of waiting for tests, MRIs, and second opinions, the Yankees announced that there is no structural damage on his shoulder, one that forced him to skip his latest rehab start.
