Yankees: Gary Sanchez to undergo left shoulder surgery

Less than a month after the Yankees and Cashman announced that Didi Gregorius would need Tommy John surgery they dropped another injury shocker Tuesday night. Fortunately, Sanchez won’t miss the majority of the 2019 season as Didi will, but this certainly isn’t the kind of offseason news Yankee fans were hoping to hear.

Speaking to reporters at the GM Meetings in California, Cashman talked about how Sanchez has been dealing with left shoulder issues dating back to the 2017 season. Sanchez had been able to play through the pain thanks to some cortisone shots but on Tuesday he was working out in Tampa and re-aggravated the injury.
