The Yankees pulled out tonight’s win with an unexpected solid start from their starter.

In the first inning, CC Sabathia pitched a quick scoreless first inning. Eduardo Rodriguez got the first two outs before Alex Rodriguez got a hit an Mark Teixeira walked, but Chris Young was retired to end the brief threat.

The game remained scoreless until the third inning.

After a pair of strikeouts, Brett Gardner got on base with a single to center field.
