Yankees expected to stay the course with Boone’s coaches

One year after the Yankees’ coaching staff underwent a big face-lift, all of manager Aaron Boone’s coaches are expected to return for the 2019 season.

Reggie Willits (first base), Phil Nevin (third base), Josh Bard (bench), Carlos Mendoza (infield) and P.J. Pilittere (assistant hitting) completed their first season with the Yankees. Marcus Thames (hitting) spent his first season in charge after being the assistant hitting coach the previous two seasons.

Larry Rothschild (pitching) and Mike Harkey (bullpen) will be in their ninth and 10th seasons, respectively, with the Yankees.
After going to Game 7 of the ALCS last year against the eventual World Series winning Astros, the Yankees replaced Joe Girardi with Aaron Boone and retained Rothschild, Harkey and Thames.
