The injury bug has struck the Yankees again.
Edwin Encarnacion was placed on the 10-day injured list with a broken right wrist following the Yankees’ 9-2 win over the Red Sox in the first leg of a Saturday doubleheader.
Encarnacion was in the middle of a three-hit afternoon in The Bronx when he was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning. Initial X-rays were negative, but a CT scan revealed the grim news.
The Yankees called up Mike Ford from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for Encarnacion, who is the 24th Yankee to hit the IL this season.
