Degano's scouting report identifies him as working between 88-92 mph, with the ability to reach 95 mph with a fastball that features some natural cutting life. He gets many of his strikeouts with a hard slurve that he can run away from lefties and can back-foot righties.
Owning a decent changeup with some fade, Degano will need to use it more as a starter in pro ball. He is believed to have the upside of being a three-pitch starter with the fallback of becoming a situational lefty.
A product of Surrey, British Columbia, who pitched in the 2005 Little League World Series, Degano spent his first two college seasons at Marshalltown (Iowa) Community College before attending Indiana, going 8-5 with a 3.
