The Post’s Steve Serby, with the aid of a translator, tosses some Q-and-A with Yankees pitcher Domingo German, who is off to an impressive 8-1 start.
Q: Who did you speak to for advice following your Tommy John surgery, and how scary was it for you?
A: There were so many things that went through my head — some of them was even quitting baseball. Being afraid that I was never gonna get back to being the pitcher I was before.
So it was definitely tough, mentally and physically. I had a chance to speak to (former MLB pitcher) Jumbo Diaz, and we talked about the operation itself, him going through the operation and talking to me a little bit about his experience, and how he dealt with the injury.
