With nine games remaining in the regular season and the Yankees magic number at one to clinch their first AL East crown since 2012, Domingo German has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of domestic abuse.
Barring an extension, the initial period of absence may last up to a full seven days. After that, Commissioner Rob Manfred can decide to either extend the leave, suspend the player or reinstate him.
Though details pertaining to the case have yet to be released, the Yankees did release a statement per the NY Post.
“We support this policy which reinforces that domestic violence has no place in our society and cannot be tolerated,” the statement continued.
