For once, the tube did not bear terrible Yankees news.
Do-it-all infielder DJ LeMahieu won’t be joining the surreal injured list that’s holding 13 to date. An MRI exam Monday revealed only right knee inflammation, the team announced, and LeMahieu is listed as day to day after exiting Sunday’s 11-5 win over the San Francisco Giants.
LeMahieu, an expected lineup plug-in turned everyday starter, was ailing from fouling a ball off his leg two days earlier. X-rays after the game yielded negative results, and exams Monday officially quelled the Yankees’ concerns.
Gio Urshela, who also left Sunday’s game after taking a pitch to his left hand, isn’t expected to miss much time, either.
