Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay received word from outside sources that shortstop Didi Gregorius has been cleared for baseball activities, after receiving a cortisone shot in his right wrist. However, Didi is not in Wednesday night’s lineup vs. the Rays.
Didi slid into home plate head first in Saturday’s game against the Orioles’ after Aaron Hicks hit a walk-off double in the 11th inning that allowed the Bombers to clinch a Postseason berth. That slide injured Gregorius’ right wrist — and an MRI later showed a cartilage tear.
Manager Aaron Boone was recently on the Michael Kay Show, and he confirmed that Gregorius has in fact been cleared to resume baseball activity.
