The Yankees’ youth movement continued Wednesday, when they shipped Justin Wilson to Detroit for two minor leaguers.
A day after acquiring Starlin Castro, the Yankees landed right-handed pitchers Luis Cessa and Chad Green. Cessa, a former infielder who had been converted by the Mets, had come to the Tigers through the trade that brought Yoenis Cespedes to Queens.
The deal helps the Yankees’ starting pitching depth, and also allows them to save about $1.5 million that Wilson likely would have gotten in arbitration.
With Triple-A Toledo, the 23-year-old Cessa was unimpressive, going 1-3 with a 5.
