Clint Frazier was the coming attraction to a blockbuster trade that never really arrived. The word of mouth was strong and there were, in Yankees manager Aaron Boone’s words, “glimpses” of Frazier’s skill set — notably his bat speed — that so intrigued and excited.
But during his Yankees tenure, Frazier often has seemed more likely to win “Most Likely To Annoy” than to earn full-time play. That’s due to a boisterous look-at-me, hear-me personality that made you wonder if he were cloned from Joba Chamberlain and Nick Swisher. Frazier was “Most Likely to be Traded,” the bat speed enticing to outsiders while restlessness formed around the Yankees about a growing injury history and that will-he-ever-fit-in nature.
