Yankees’ Brian Cashman on why he chose Mike Tauchman over Clint Frazier

LONDON — According to Brian Cashman, the Yankees’ decision to replace Giancarlo Stanton with Mike Tauchman instead of Clint Frazier had nothing to do with Frazier using all of the 72 hours he was allotted to report to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when optioned to Triple-A on June 16.

Instead, the GM cited the large amount of foul territory at London Stadium, where the Red Sox and Yankees will play two games Saturday and Sunday, and Tauchman’s ability to fill in at all three outfield spots as the reason.

“Tauchman covers left, center and right in an above-average defensive way.
