KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In the aftermath of costing the Yankees three runs in a loss Friday, night Gleyber Torres vowed to be better on Saturday evening.
The neophyte second baseman kept his word by leading the Yankees to an 8-3 victory over the Royals that was watched by 33,684 at Kauffman Stadium.
Torres’ fourth homer in 75 big league at-bats came with two on and the score tied, 2-2, in the fourth against lefty loser Danny Duffy.
The 29-13 Yankees won for the 20th time in 24 games, and the victory went to Luis Severino (7-1), who has won five straight.
