ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran missed Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays because of right shoulder tightness, and infielder Dustin Ackley could be headed to the disabled list.
Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira didn’t start for the fifth consecutive game because of neck stiffness but entered in the seventh as a defensive replacement for Ackley, who jammed his right shoulder one inning earlier diving into first base.
Ackley was to have an MRI, and manager Joe Girardi said he expects Ackley to go the disabled list.
“I’m hoping for the best,” Ackley said.
