WASHINGTON — In what Aaron Boone called an “odd” day, the Yankees seemed to be in a good spot before resuming their suspended game against the Nationals.
Tied going into the bottom of the sixth, the manager had his bullpen lined up the way he wanted, with Chad Green getting the ball to restart the game that was halted by rain at Nationals Park on May 15.
But Green struggled, giving up a two-run homer to rookie phenom Juan Soto with one out in the sixth and the Yankees lost 5-3 as they headed into the makeup game of the May 16 rainout against the Nationals on Monday night.
