Yankees bats on life support in eyesore shutout to Red Sox

This is what it sounds like when bats die.

There was very little doubt Saturday night at Fenway Park the Yankees’ bats remained dead, just as they have been for far too much of the season’s first month.

April vanished into the cool New England evening at midnight and left the Yankees with a lifeless 8-0 loss to the Red Sox in front of 37,901 at New England’s living room.

Rick Porcello and two Red Sox relievers blanked the Yankees, who are 5-12 in their last 17 games and have scored 39 runs (2.3 per game) during that awful stretch that has landed them in the AL East cellar and threatens to ruin their season before school is out.
