NEW YORK -- With a swing, Matt Holliday ended the Yankees' run toward embarrassment.
More importantly, he gave them a win.
Holliday's two-run home run in the sixth inning snapped A's starter Jharel Cotton's no-hit bid and put the Yankees ahead for good in a 3-2 victory at Yankee Stadium, witnessed by 40,218.
Holliday's blast -- his ninth this season -- gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead and supported starting pitcher CC Sabathia, who provided his third straight strong start.
Sabathia lasted 6 1/3 innings, striking out a season-high nine batters.
