Yankees avoid arbitration with everyone, except Luis Severino

The Yankees reached agreements with all but one of their arbitration-eligible players, but they have so far been unable to strike a deal with Luis Severino.

Dellin Betances, Greg Bird, Sonny Gray, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Tommy Kahnle, James Paxton and Austin Romine all signed one-year deals, leaving just Severino.

Their last arbitration battle came with Betances two years ago, a fight that went public. This time, Betances settled for $7.25 million. He’ll be a free agent for the first time following this season.

Severino, 24, is in his first year of eligibility for arbitration. The right-hander went 19-8 with a 3.
